One time at a cocktail party, Bill jokingly asked a magazine publisher why he (Bill) hadn't made the magazine's Best Realtor list.
The publisher quickly responded, "Because you're the Best in the World, and we don't have a catagory for that distinction because each year you'd be the only one named!"
I know that he was only joshing, but we both knew that many who were on the magazine's list got the appointment because they bought an ad.

Another time, a major bank's loan officer called to tell Bill, and the seller's Realtor, that a home loan that had been promised to close that day, would be delayed until the middle of the following week.
Bill knew the president of that bank, so he called him at his office in San Francisco and asked for help. Within the hour, the loan officer notified all parties that the loan had been rescheduled again, and would close, as originally agreed, at 3 pm that day.

Many times overlooked by those who are considering buying a home or perhaps selling theirs, are the importance of the negotiating, and the legal and financing challenges that are involved.
Seasoned Realtors like me, those with many years of experience, more often than not can agilely track through what are monumental land mines to the less knowledgeable agents and their brokers.
